Patriot Academy provides an educational setting that is not bound by age restraints.
Clearly, not every student will fit into the mold of the traditional district school system.
Grouping students by their ages for the basic academic core curriculum (Reading &
Math) does not provide the best learning environment for every student.
If a student is age 6 (1st Grade aged) but is performing at the second grade academic
ability level for reading, the student will become bored and unmotivated when placed
in a 1st Grade reading classroom to receive the core curriculum (Reading & Math).
This is how most district schools place students in classes (it is by the student's age).
We will put this 1st Grade student in 2nd Grade reading class so they are challenged
and moving forward academically. This keeps the student motivated and challenged.
Conversely, students who are behind academically and are placed in age groupings
are left behind to struggle attaining the basic skills. Patriot Academy affords a student
the opportunity to be placed in a learning environment where his/her classmates are at
the same academic ability level in Reading, Spelling, and Math while remaining with
his/her age peers for the other subject areas. This method allows for expanded
opportunities for remediation and for students to catch up if they are behind their age
peer group. Being placed in their academic ability grouping will also challenge
students who are academically advanced.
What this means is the 1st Grade student that reads at 2nd Grade level, is placed in a
2nd Grade classroom for Reading. Thereby, the student is challenged and motivated
to continue learning at their ability level. This also allows the teachers to focus on the
one ability level in their class. In most district schools, you can have 1st Grade
students that are all placed in one classroom but read at Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and
2nd Grade level. Most district schools will not move students to a classroom teaching
to their academic ability. This is one unique and very strong feature of Patriot
Academy!

specials: Physical Education, Music, Recess, Art etc... It is important that students
