Patriot Academy is accountable for student achievement and learning.
One method of accountability is being able to show and prove the
students academic abilities before the school year begins and how
much the student has achieved over the course of the school year.
Due to the urgency of tracking student achievement, all students will
be pre- and post-tested each year in Reading Comprehension,
Reading Decoding, Spelling, and Math. The pre-tests will give the
school and the parents data to establish the student's academic
ability before the school year begins.
Reading and Math Class placements will be determined by the result
of the before school pre-testing. Deficiencies will be identified for
each student and a remediation plan developed with parent
involvement to help the student to be successful and stay on track.
At the end of the school year, the student will be given a post test to
determine the amount of academic growth over the school year. The
academic growth over the year is then given to the parents and
student.
Test scores and student achievement are shared and communicated
with parents during teacher-parent conferences as well as in weekly
work folders.
During the 2007-2008 school year our students averaged 2.5
years of academic growth shown by the pre and post tests
listed above. Many of our students achieved greater academic
growth (3+ years) in several areas. We had several students
who enrolled in February who achieve more than 1 year
academic growth in the 4 short months that they were in our
classes.
We attribute the success in academic growth to our highly
qualified teachers and the best curriculum and teaching
methodology.
